As you’re probably aware, I’ve been into the MMO Final Fantasy XIV Online. About two weeks ago, a new patch dropped, and after downloading the patch, I, like so many other players on the many servers spanning across North America, Europe, and of course, Japan, began going through the main scenario quests, as well as doing the sidequests. I’ve already touched on some of the side content in the game, which was the 8-man raid Sigmascape, and I do plan to talk about Sigmascape V3.0 and 4.0 once I’ve gone through it, but this time, I’m going to address the main scenario quests. Before the patch dropped, a trailer was released, giving players a peek of what to expect in the patch.
Picking up from the last patch, 4.1, which came out back in November, I won’t talk about the storyline, as I want these posts to be as spoiler-free as possible, but what I will say is, the scenario quests were quite engaging, and left me wanting to know what will happen next, most especially the last quest. Although short, it certainly gave players some food for thought, not to mention speculation abound. The main scenario gave players the return of two characters thought to have died, but turned out to have survived in the last cutscene of 4.1. Although I was somewhat disappointed that Square Enix brought back a villain many players all but thought had died for good, it also gave rise to endless possibilities of just how exactly did he come back from the dead.
With a new patch, also came new dungeons and trials, and I enjoyed the dungeons and trials, even though my character died a lot because I didn’t know what to expect. Overall, while this patch was short, with not too many main scenario quests, the content alone in the patch is enough to keep me occupied for a good, long while, especially with blind runs with my friends.
